Celebrating creativity, craft, and inspiration is the goal in our Artist Alley. We seek an environment that nurtures these efforts and allows for the one-on-one time needed in a quieter setting.

If there is a higher demand for spaces than are available, a daily lottery will be conducted for the half and full daily tables. Inquiring individuals should keep a look out for a possible social media post from us if the matter in question arises.
The Digital Artist spaces will be full weekend and subject to regular approval for a maximum of two locations.

Artist Alley Registration Schedule 2024
- Monday, March 25th – Artist Alley applications open.
- Sunday, April 28th @ 11:59PM CST – Artist Alley applications close.
- Wednesday, May 1st – Artist Alley notifications are sent to inquiring individuals.
- Sunday, May 5th – Friday, May 31st – Table Payment Window.
- Sunday, May 19th – Tables released to waiting list.
- Wednesday, July 31st – Latest date to receive Oklahoma Sales Permit ID.
Code of Conduct
Sales Tax & Permits
- All merchants are required to file taxes with the state of Oklahoma, via Sales Permit ID or SSN. We will give a letter to you at the convention on how to follow up correctly with the state.
- We need the above information submitted before the convention by July 31, 2025 in order to be permitted to sell.
- The sales tax rate based on the Convention’s location is 8.517%, as of 1/18/2025. (State of
- Oklahoma – 4.5%, Tulsa County – 0.367%, and The city of Tulsa – 3.65%)
Vendor Selection Process
- Artists are selected based on the variety and quality of products being sold. We look for the following:
- The ability to demonstrate/show your process or to describe it.
- Links to existing works on media.
- If in question about any item being able to be displayed, staff can advise.
- The use of AI art or NFTs for purposes of sale or profit is not allowed within the Artist Alley.
- We fully welcome artists getting their first start in convention presence and experience.
- Once selected, vendors for Artist Alley will receive emails about their inclusion in the Alley. Payment for the table will be requested at least two months before the first day of the convention, and if you have any difficulties please contact the AA lead and we will do what we can to help you.
Power / Utilities
- Please prepare with the possibility that we may not have access to electrical connections for devices. Portable rechargeable battery sources are strongly advised.
Load-In and Setup
- The Thursday evening before the first convention day, the room will be available to load-in at approximately 6 pm and open until 10 pm. For close, we will stay up to 2 hours after ceremonies as needed.
- In the event of a loading dock becoming unavailable, further information will be communicated.
Posting of Signs and Displays
- Table space may be used as needed for presentation. All tables are placed at least 2.5 feet away from their nearby wall or divider, to provide personal storage space as necessary.
- Signage must remain PG-13 for general view, with anything above that content level being in a binder or suitably controlled for more careful viewing by interested parties. Advertisement of NSFW availability is advised if doing so in a discreet fashion.
- Lights, sound, music, and videos are allowed as long as they do not disturb others, including neighboring merchants or attendees. In the event of a complaint, staff will address the situation.
- With relation to Oklahoma fire codes, we are unable to place anything higher than 3 feet below the ceiling of the Artist Alley.
- Room walls, doors, and ceiling must remain unadorned by any displays or signage, as well as ceilings.
Prohibited Items
We reserve the right to ask that the following sorts of items be removed from displays and/or sold if deemed inappropriate for the convention:
- Firearms
- Alcohol
- Weapons not peace-bonded by Animal Control (our security staff)
- Flammable and incendiary items, excepting candles and incense (However, they must remain unlit.)
- Food items manufactured without accordance to FDA or local health inspector oversight
- Any other items prohibited by our hotel, the City of Tulsa, or State of Oklahoma or the Convention.
Raffles
- In accordance with state laws, we are unable to allow raffles for “For Profit” groups and organizations to occur within the Artist Alley, unless they are for a non-profit organization, such as a charity or the convention itself.
- Blind Boxes and Bags — Blind boxes and bags may be sold in the Artist Alley, however the staff reserve the right to audit the contents of such items if given reasonable cause for concern.
- All information regarding contents of such boxes or bags to staff will be held in confidence and not communicated outside of the vendor-staff discussion.
Sales outside of AA
With accordance to sales permit rules and regulations, no transactions are allowed to occur outside of the Artist Alley without prior authorizations.
Suggested Business Practices
- It is advised to have a means of contact for during and after the convention for commission work, whether as a receipt, business card, or other creative media.
- Be sure to maintain reasonable communication with your customers, for ease of handling any transactions or necessary delivery of commissions after the convention.
- While we do our best to ensure our Artist Alley participants are in good standing, fraudulent business practices will result in no longer being allowed to vend at Tails and Tornadoes Fur Con.
Merchant Liability
- Artists are responsible for damages to hotel property and equipment loaned to them that are deemed inappropriate use of said materials.
- Property of the hotel is not to be modified in any way: holes, chips, paint, glue or other damages including inappropriate or rough behavior. Please refrain from standing on chairs or tables. The convention is not responsible for injuries received as a result of misuse of hotel assets.
Room Layout
- The room layout may be changed as needed during the convention, however staff will endeavor to make sure this occurs as little as possible.
Rowdy / Inappropriate Behavior
- Vendors are expected to maintain a reasonable presence and awareness of the convention space. We do have a small percentage of youth that visit us, so please be mindful of that when setting up your booth.
- Profanity and unusual disruptions should be kept to a strict minimum.
- Leaving the Booth during Artist Alley hours.
- Vendors are not required to be at their booth during the entire convention. We do ask that if you have an assistant, please introduce us to them if they are covering while you are away.
- If you do not have an assistant, we strongly advise leaving a note of your return so that interested attendees can find you to ask about any wares or commissions.
Observance of Health and Safety Protocols (COVID / Illness)
Vendors may require masks at their booth, but must supply masks if doing so. If they cannot, the convention may be able to assist with doing so if given sufficient notification before the convention.
Responsibilities of Artist Alley Staff:
- Checking badges at the door with or without volunteer aid.
- Assistance in booth building or taking down as requested by vendors in need.
- Keeping in contact with convention staff in case of emergency situations that may arise.
- Opening doors in morning, and closing in evening; availability via telegram group chat for anyone needing to get something from their booth when it is closed.
- Ensure a safe environment that creates a pleasant atmosphere for sharing of artistic talent.
All Other Concerns
Artist Alley staff has the final say on decisions made in the Artist Alley space.
- The Artist Alley Code of Conduct needs to be followed, as well as the attendee Code of Conduct.
- We reserve the right to amend rules without prior or posted notice, with the intent of fairness and respect.
