Dance Competition
Application Is Now Open
Rules:
Audio:
- This is a PG-13 event. Any music involving inappropriate topics such as lewd, profane or provocative content will not be allowed under any circumstances. Songs must be radio-friendly, meaning censored/no vulgarity. Music used for preliminaries must be used in the main event, unless otherwise discussed with the coordinator.
- Music length must be minimum 1 minute and 30 seconds long, and no longer than 2 minutes. For every additional dancer in the performance, you will be given an extra 30 seconds added to your maximum time. You may not exceed 3 minutes. It is also incredibly helpful to our organizers and AV staff if you name your song files in a (YourName)TTFC2026 format!
Attire:
- What you wear to perform in preliminaries, must be what you wear to perform in the main event! If you are wearing a fullsuit to the main event, you must wear your fullsuit to preliminaries, and vice versa. This also applies to any attire worn while partial suiting.
- The minimum requirements to participate in the dance competition is a fursuit head, handpaws, and tail. (However, we do recognize that some fursonas don’t have tails!) Your fursuit must stay on for the entire performance, except for in cases of emergency. Special exceptions can be made for those performing without a suit, however in these instances you cannot place in the competition.
- Any skin must be covered and follow TTFC dress code. Furthermore we ask that all middrifts and undergarments be covered, please remember that we will have children watching the show so clothing must be pg rated. Appropriateness of clothing will be judged by coordinators before the competition starts.
Choreo:
- All WINNING choreography and routines must be original and made by the dancer. We will not tolerate any intentional or blatant copies of pre-existing choreography of any kind. Any plagiarism will result in an instant disqualification and a revocation of any awards given. If you wish to use unoriginal choreography, you must inform the coordinator so we may inform the judges. You will not be allowed to win, but you will be allowed to perform.
Props:
- Only small props, clothing, or accessories are allowed to be used in your performance. If you wish to perform with a larger prop that may be hazardous or difficult to use, please reach out to the coordinator for permission. All props must be brought to preliminaries and approved by dance staff/coordinator for safety, and if our team is unsure, we will consult with the security team before they are allowed in your performance.
More:
- Preliminaries will only allow one handler per dancer in the room. We do not want to overcrowd the room.
- Coordinators reserve the right to make decisions for any performances in the event where necessary. This includes but is not limited to: disqualification, dancer position in the lineup, or asking you to change your song, dance, or attire.
- Have fun! This competition is to showcase the amazing talent of our community, and to have a moment in the spotlight. Bad sportsmanship will not be tolerated, and offenders will be punished at the discretion of the coordinator.
Judging:
A brief example of some things that our judges look for in both the preliminaries
and main event:
- Execution: How clean and polished do your moves look?
- Originality: How unique is your dance, does it look fresh and non-repetitive?
- Musicality: How well does your dance match the music selection?
- Dynamics: How dynamic and/or exciting is your dance?
- Showmanship: How does your dance appeal to audiences/judges?
- Tiebreaker: In the event of a tiebreaker in the Main Event, individual judges’ marks will be considered to break the tie, where the finalist with the highest individual judge score will supersede the other.
